Slanting Objects

Choose the Shear tool to slant objects relative to a reference point.

To slant one or more objects, first select the objects to be transformed and choose the Shear tool. With the Shear tool active, click and drag anywhere on the canvas to slant the objects.

Hold the Shift ⇧ key while dragging to slant selected objects on only one axis (horizontally or vertically).

Tip: Use the Shift - S keyboard shortcut to quickly select the Shear tool.

Objects can be slanted numerically using the Tool Options bar. Set the horizontal and vertical shear angles, and then click Shear to apply the transformation. Clicking Copy will duplicate the objects first and then apply the slant transformation to the copied objects.

Alternatively, objects can be slanted numerically using the Shear settings from the Geometry pane of the Properties panel.

By default, the reference point will be located in the center of the selected shapes. To use a different location for the reference point, click-and-drag it to set it at that new location.
